Ask

  • When and where did the injury occur?
  • How did the injury occur?
  • Any associated injuries?

Assess Symptoms

  • Pain
  • Change in occlusion
  • Difficulty opening mouth

Determine Tetanus Status

    • Consider prophylaxis for intrusion, avulsion, deep laceration, or contaminated wound if not updated in the past five years.
